Here's what caught me off guard...

In the one series prediction that I actually completed, I proposed that the Warriors would make short work of the Grizzlies and beat them in 5 games. I didn't think the Griz could even keep up with the Warriors and it's clear that I completely forgot just how good Memphis is at slowing down the pace and playing the way that they want to play.

Memphis Grizzlies vs Golden State Warriors

The hero Memphis deserves AND the one it needs right now

Without Mike Conley leading the charge, Memphis are a team with no identity and floor leader. Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph can only do so much inside the pain, but they have to get the ball first down low. Conley spaces the floor much better than Beno Udrih and Nick Calathes and does everything well enough that it goes unnoticed. Jack of all trades, master of none. But that's what the Grizzlies need if they are to survive this series against the Warriors who have been inconsistent throughout the series. Two blowout wins have been balanced out by two lackadaisical losses and the series may very well go to seven games. On the other side of the ball, Steph Curry today became the fastest player to hit 100 3pt shots in the playoffs; this season is truly a marvel to be behold for him. MVP. All-Star selection. Pretty much guaranteed an All-NBA First Team award and then there's the NBAPA Awards coming next year in Vegas. 'Player you secretly wished was on your team?" anyone? Not such a big secret when he's easily a top 5 player in the modern NBA.

Atlanta Hawks vs Washington Wizards

This series seemed like it should be easy for the Hawks. Playing some great basketball before locking up the number 1 seed in the East and with the talent to easily beat the Wizards, one must wonder where it all went wrong for them. While it isn't over yet, it's currently 3-2 in favour of the Hawks, the WizKids have been right there with them all series. Paul Pierce is once again proving that he's indestructible and can talk alot of smack for an old man, but has the ability to back it up. Meanwhile John Wall has missed game time with 5 fractures in his hand and the Wizards will only go as far as he and Bradley Beal will take them. Nene and Gortat aren't about to transform into world beaters anytime soon and Wall knows that he must take charge.

He's still got it

So close to the Conference Finals yet so far, it's hard to predict who will eventually go through but here goes nothing. Obviously it's a lot easier now that there's only a few games left.

Clippers beat Rockets in 6

Warriors beat Grizzlies in 7

Cavaliers beat Bulls in 6

Wizards beat Haws in 7

So yep, that's a Cavs and Wizards Eastern Conference Final. Who woulda thunk it?
