Chris Bosh set to miss playoffs yet again

Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh has announced that he'll miss the playoffs for the second consecutive season due to a blood clot.

Dwyane Wade spoke with the Associated Press' Tim Reynolds after Bosh informed the team that he would be unable to play in the 2016 playoffs, starting with a first round series against the Charlotte Hornets.

Wade said: "The biggest message is someone who lived for this moment, someone who envisioned these moments especially after last year, he doesn't have the ability to be in it."

The initial problem for Bosh came in February 2015 when he returned home from a vacation in Haiti and was soon admitted to a Miami area hospital.

At the time, doctors found that the blood clot had moved up to the 32 year old's lungs and he was immediately shut down for the remainder of the season.

Dr David Chao, a writer for Bleacher Report and a sports medicine orthopedist with experience in the NBA, explains how the treatment could spell disaster for Bosh if he suffers an kind of laceration.

"If Bosh were to suffer a significant injury that involves bleeding, the effects of any blood thinners would be difficult to reverse quickly."

Bosh has averaged 19.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game this season, making 53 total appearances.
