The Fresh Prince of Merseyside

Raheem Sterling. The young England international and current Liverpool player has a myriad of suitors lined up to steal his signature, but what are the odds he leaves Liverpool? After some rather audacious comments from his agent, it seems almost certain that he'll be packing his bags and moving. But it might be a short trip for him, with Manchester City in pole position to sign him.

Sterling's agent Aidy Ward allegedly told the club that Sterling had no chance of signing, not even for a "900 pound/week contract." It is also alleged that he called club legend Jamie Carragher a "knob" and this, naturally, is not going to sit well with the Liverpool faithful.

Fingers crossed none of it was true but still, Sterling is in some hot water with his contract negotiations. Reminds me of another young English player that has a big head. (read: Theo Walcott)

Sterling has been linked to just about everyone in the top half of the table including Arsenal, who really don't need anymore wide players. Liverpool are asking for Theo Walcott in return but it's just going to cause more trouble for both teams once their respective contracts finish. Really frustrating. Sign Da ting!

There's a music video for Walcott... anyway back to Sterling.

There's no doubt he is a great young talent but it is much too early for him to be leaving to a bigger club at the age of 20. The boy hasn't done enough to prove himself to be in the "superstar" stratosphere just yet BUT there is that potential there for it. A concern however would be his fragility in play with recent injuries keeping him out of the squad and it doesn't look likely that he's going to be putting on much muscle anytime soon. Then again I could be wrong, look at Ozil's transformation post-injury.

The kid has a long way to go but the potential for superstardom is definitely there.
