Ramos Signs Extension, De Gea is a "Maybe"

Manchester United target Sergio Ramos has reportedly signed an extension with Real Madrid that will keep him at the club until June 2020. While it won't be official until August 23rd, the Spaniard is set to make roughly €9m per season as the two parties iron out the fine details of the contract.

The centre back was a long-time target of Louis Van Gaal of Manchester United, who were desperate to beef up their defence after the early signings of Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger. While the two defensive midfielders will be integral in breaking down attacks and recovering possession, a world class centre back such as Ramos would be the cherry on top of the sundae for United. Especially when you have Phil Jones instead.
Oh and did I mention Mike Smalling?
So United are certainly short-handed when it comes to decent centre backs, with Marcos Rojo being the only one worthy of playing alongside a talent such as Ramos. But with him gone, United must now look to other target to bolster the defence, otherwise it could be a busy season for David De Gea... or will it?

LVG has been quoted as saying that De Gea "maybe wants to go" to Real Madrid and this has fueled speculation that the 24 year old Spaniard could be on his way out of Old Trafford. And who could blame him? Here comes the old cliche that "it's every boys dream to play for a club like Real Madrid" but it honestly is! A club with such a rich history of prestige and class are automatically going to attract the biggest and best players. Anyway I digress... With the players The Red Devils are bringing in, you wouldn't fault De Gea for backflipping on Madrid and sticking with United. They are shaping up to be serious title contenders this season and could be one player away from their first championship since the 2012-13 season (jeez three years, such a long wait).
