EuroTrip Day 0: Pleasantly Surprised

Finally left for my three week trip away to England and France, starting with a fourteen hour flight to Dubai. It's amazing going from 36 degree heat on a Sydney afternoon to a 12 degree morning in Dubai. After a brief layover in DXB, we took a short 7 hour flight to London Heathrow where we landed at roughly 6:30am, where it was a frosty 4 degrees. It was brisk chill rather than an uncomfortable draught so it was nice to have been prepared with a large winter coat from NYC.

A long drive back home with minimal traffic was just what we needed, although the jet lag wouldn't kick in until the end of the day where I was exhausted.
After having a big breakfast to get the energy up, I was shown the Hampstead Heath, a huge patch of land where locals play rugby but mostly football. It was fogggy still but the weather had risen to a nice 7 degrees.
Following this we had lunch at Chez Bob; I had a pretty decent burger and chips but nothing special given the price. 11 English pound converts to roughly 20 AUD. Every shop is heated so much so that the temperature feels normal inside, and after putting on so many layers I had to take off my thermals because of the overheating.
We explored the street a little bit then when we returned home, went for a drive around London Bridge and into the city. As it was a Saturday, it was incredibly busy on the road and we turned back as soon as we found London Underground station and the building adjacent it.
